Reachable Readers is….
A sequential language program for students at the earliest stages of acquiring English. In each unit language repeats, grows in complexity and is reinforced throughout the series. Speaking, listening, reading and writing are taught simultaneously using pre-reading, reading and post-reading activities. Language is acquired through meaningful contexts as well as explicit, systematic instruction.
Includes
- 10 thematic units that integrate content with language
- 35 original, engaging and culturally sensitive books that are printable. Each unit also includes digital books for teachers to display.
- Hands-on manipulatives and multimodal activities
- Key vocabulary, sight words (except when there is not a one-to-one translation) and unit specific scaffolds in 18 languages
- Visuals to support and contextualize language
- Partner and group activities for authentic discourse and interaction
- Daily Lessons, approximately 30 to 40 minutes per day
- Explicit and Systematic Phonemic Awareness and Phonics Instruction
- Formative Assessments at the end of each unit
- Summative Assessments after every three units

Reachable Readers is based on current research for multilingual language acquisition as well as fifteen years of experience working with emergent multilingual learners in the public schools.
